Paper Cut Card

My husband's birthday is coming up and I wanted to make a card for him. On a recent trip to my local stationery store I found some fun ruffle edged cards. They are a single layer of white card stock and I had the idea that if I cut a design in the top one then I could put color behind it.

You can see the penciled in 'te amo' which means I love you in Spanish. I looked around on Google fonts until I found one that I thought would be easy to cut out.

Cutting out lettering is pretty difficult because of the tight turns, but I think it turned out pretty good.

I then picked out a nice blue to be the middle of my sandwich. I traced the outside of the white card and then cut in from that about a quarter of an inch.

I glued the blue to a blank white piece although I suppose this is not necessary and you could just leave the back open and write your message on the blue paper, but I wanted a clean white back to write on.

I then carefully put glue on the backside of the card I cut out while paying particular attention to getting glue in the delicate areas of the lettering.

This is a simple card that can be easily personalized and made as fancy as you want it to be. You could even get creative with making different colored paper show through the cut out areas. Whatever you do, people are going to notice that you took the time to make a card just for them and that makes it extra special.
